Blog # 7 , Revision; The Woman Who Died in th Waiting Room.

Generally, a hospital is a place where people are expected to get help and treat their diseases, but in “The Woman Who Died in the Waiting Room” by Jeneen Interlandi, she writes about how mentally ill patients are treated badly in public hospitals and in our society. She also describes poor mentally challenge patients do not get proper care.   Esmis Green, who died in a waiting room of a psych emergency room and also in front of two security officers and a nurse who was on duty at that time. Furthermore, she also states that poor and uninsured mental patients suffer the most due to not enough out patient’s services and lack of community based support. I completely agree with Miss Interlandi that the poor and uninsured mental patients don’t get proper care because of insufficient out patient’s services in our community.
First of all, it is very unfortunate for a mental patient in our country because most of the large psychiatric hospitals are closing and reducing their services. Because of less funding from the government and communities, Miss Interlandi says, “Large mental hospitals began closing their doors en masse.”  Like I heard that the Santa Barbara Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Hospital is reducing the available beds and other services to save money. They are reducing from around 300 to 100 beds to save about $800,000 a year for the hospital. The hospital is providing care to 1,300 uninsured mental patients who are costing the hospital nearly $3.5 million within six months. The hospital believes that if the cost of services continue go like this then there will be not much money left to provide service to the patient who are already there and the hospital is complained that they didn’t get much support from the government and communities to this kind a problem.  It is sad thing that our mentally challenge brothers and sisters have to suffer like this even as we are living in a country which is known to be the most rich and advanced country in the world.
It is also depressing that even the mental patients who get treatment are not safe in their place. For example, I recently I read in a newspaper that one mental patient got killed by a fellow inmate in their prison hospital. Even with maximum security in mental hospital, a patient of Maryland hospital got killed by a fellow inmate. It says this incident was the second time in a week and the third time in the past 13months. A secretary of the Maryland hospital acknowledged that more needed to be done for the safety of the patients. I agree with her and her hospital needs support from the government and from our community to improve the lives and safely of our mentally ill brothers and sisters.
Hence, it is a disturbing news to hear in present days that Eswin Green, a mantel patient, died in an emergency room due to lack of care and services in a mental hospital because I have hearing  from the most leaders who run the government that  compare to early men, we are more civilized and educated because of the government . But where is that the government when the mental people need help and support.  Therefore, the government and community should do something to prevent this kind an incident happen over and over again and do help to provide some funding those mental hospital who  need help  to the mentally challenge patients.

Blog # 6

During the CATW test,( December 1st 2011, at 11.45 am,  on Thursday), when the test instructor hand me my test paper, I'll read the text thoroughly two and three times until I get what is article is about.  I'll chose some key ideas from there to write summery and one specific idea from the text in quotation mark to respond weather I’m agree with the specific idea or disagree. In body paragraph, I make sure that I have a claim to respond with evidence and examples.
Base on previous practice test, I had many spelling mistakes, some wrong word form and singular and plurals grammar problems. Yes I did have big problem with development, which I believe I didn't understand how to write development before, but now I am confident that I can write good development if I get good topic to write.
To solve my spelling problem, I will use my dictionary. For word and grammar problems, I will read my easy two or three times and clearly proofread it.  For development, I will make outline and make sure I have solid claim with evidence and example before I start my writing.

Practice CATW # 3, Is Music a Good Tool for Health.

Some people say music is like water to human beings, without water people can not survive and without music, people's lives will be dry and dull and there will be no enjoyment to live a life.. '' Is Music a Good Tool for Health?," by Elizabeth Scott,( M.S.About.com Guide) writes about how music is benefiting on people's minds and bodies. She also describes that people who are practicing music therapy are finding benefit in their cancer patients, children with attention problems and others. Furthermore, music helps in bringing positive state of mind and help to cure depression and anxiety problems. I completely agree with Miss, Scott that "Music affects the body and mind in many powerful ways?"
First of all, music is known soul survivor of the people who are living on this earth. Music brings happiness to many people faces and make them to relax. Like Miss, Scott writes music helps"aiding not only relaxation, but also health." I agree with her, now a days where ever we go we hear music everywhere. For example, the gyms, aerobic centers or the yoga health centers. In gym center, they play fast track music or something that motivate gymers to do more exercise and loses more weight. Which eventually lead them to live a better healthy lives. In a yoga center also it plays calm and smooth music, which helps people to move their bodies gently and slowly and ease their muscle lightness, and reduce their stress level. Music therapy has so many benefits that is why it is growing in popularity these days.
Another benefit in using music in our lives, is that it can help to focus our distractable minds. As Miss,Scott says," Faster beat bring sharper concentration and move alert thinking,"  That makes sense that because I remember my math 096 professor about his learning technique. He told us in our class that when he was a student, he could only learn and concentrate on his subject if he play a loud music. For him he believed that fast and loud music could help him to learn faster and easier and he also added ,"That's how my brain works." I agree with his point, some people need fast and loud music and some people need slow and calm music to live their lives.
There is no doubt that music can bring so many benefit to our minds and bodies. It helps in pain management, depression, movement ,calm and ease the muscle problem. There for we need to utilize music to enrich in our lives and  bring peace to our minds.

Blog 5, Gone Baby Gone.

In the Gone Baby Gone movie, many of the leading characters like the police captain Jack Doyle and his wife, Remy and his partner officer Nick and his even Angie, galfriend and partner of Patrick,  were believed in consequences. They all loved children and they believed that a baby Amanda will be safe and happy if she was took out from her drug addicted mother. The movie showed the consequences, when Angie told Patrick that she saw happiness in Amanda eyes and not to inform the police department about this secret for the betterment of Amanda future life.

Only Patrick among many characters of the movie believed in ethical absolutism. He thinks that murder is murder even he did it for good purpose. He felt guilty when he killed the child molester. He didn’t want to see  on consequence side even when his gal friend convinced him about his right action. An addition, he did not want to see Amanda happy and safe future in the captain Jack Doyle house because of his absolutism. He believed keeping other child was a kidnap even though the child was happy there, and the child should be place back in their family, where there was no room for care and love. At the end of the movie, Patrick called the police department and the child was given back to her careless mother.
I think the movie is on consequences side. First of all, all the main characters they scarified their careers and their lives for Amanda future's life. for example,  the Jack Doyle left his job and risk his life and his wife life to save Amanda from her reckless mother. And ditectives Remy and Nick died for Amanda  futures life too.  The movie was clearly showed on consequences side, when baby Amanda happily running toward Jack and hugged him. At the end of the movie, we clearly saw that Patirck did wrong thing to handing over Amanda to her careless and alcoholic mother as she was geeting ready for her date but she was not sure who was going to baby sit her child and she didn’t even know her child’s doll name “Annabelle.”
